Week 3: LIGHTING

For this exercise, we decided to take our own approach. As our final shoot will primarily take place outdoors, we wanted to explore how a three-point lighting setup would perform in an outdoor environment. We first set up in a shady outdoor area and tested the effectiveness of a three-point lighting setup in that space. Then, we moved to a location with more natural light and direct sunlight. When comparing the first two setups, we found that the additional lighting didn’t make a significant difference in the shaded area. However, the natural lighting in the third location produced a much more desirable effect. This experiment made me realise that for our final shoot day, I’d like to avoid low-light natural environments and ensure we are filming in direct sunlight whenever possible.
